On Pointe Dance Center
Pre Pointe Program
Dancers Ages 10+
Pre-Pointe classes are for dancers over the age of 10 that wish to be able to dance en pointe in the future. Pre-Pointe classes focus on strengthening the feet, ankles, and muscles necessary for pointe work. Pre-Pointe dancers must be enrolled in a weekly ballet class and have good attendance. Dancers must be able to pass an assessment before earning their pointe shoes. For safety and the longevity of a dancer, this typically happens at/about age 12-13 once the dancer’s feet and core strength are strong enough. Dancers who are 10-11 years old who take this class should not expect pointe shoes within their first year of class. Pointe shoes should not be purchased until approved and must be fitted by a professional.
**In the tradition of ballet, a strict dress code will be enforced of black leotard and pink tights. Dancers may also wear black dance shorts or a black ballet skirt and hair must be pulled back. If a dancer is not properly prepared for ballet with proper attire, they may be asked to observe class without participating.
